In a week & a half is Rally Day! A note from Sunday School Superintendent Cheryl Baines

Please see below a Sunday School update that was included in an email from the church office today, regarding the unique challenges and opportunities of starting the Sunday School year in the mist of the COVID-19 pandemic (click here to get on Salem’s emailing list):

From Salem’s Sunday School Superintendent Cheryl Baines:

Dear Sunday School Parents,

I hope this note finds you well. School is back in session and I hope everything is going well and everyone is staying healthy. The Sunday school team met a few weeks ago and came up with a plan to kick off the Sunday school year. Being parents ourselves, we know that the health and safety of your family is a priority and a responsibility that we do not take lightly.

Rally Day will be held on September 13th from 9:30 – 10:15. Our theme this year is inspired by the beloved lesson of Jonah and the Whale. We will focus on trusting God’s call and recognizing His call as one of love and hope.

Our event will take place outside. All of our teachers will wear masks and we encourage ALL the kids to wear one as well.

Our schedule for the day is as follows:

9:30-10:00 we will have a game on the lawn and we will reenact the story of Jonah and the whale

10:00 we will watch a video on the lawn and have a snack.

10:15 dismiss to parents. We ask parents to pick kids up in effort to minimize the number of kids running around.

We have planned for the rest of the September lessons to look similar with all the teachers wearing masks and being outside as much as possible, weather pending. When not possible, we will be inside and practicing safe social distancing.

We understand that the safety of your children is a top priority and it is our intention to keep your kids safe and healthy while engaging and learning about God’s love for us. Please feel free to reach out to Cheryl Baines (402-990-5535) with any questions or concerns. I am open to any and all suggestions to find the best solution for keeping kids healthy.

We hope to see you September 13th and all month long. Your kids are important to us and we believe in the value of our Sunday School classes.

Cheryl Baines
