Brothers and Sisters of Salem,
It was decided at our meeting for the 160th anniversary, that we will not have a big celebration (this year) as we had planned. Instead, we will be celebrating on a much smaller scale. In this time of uncertainty and confusion, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone who wishes to attend this great milestone to do so safely. So, the initial, but smaller scale celebration will still be held on Sunday, September 13, this year. This will include Rally Day and kickoff to the new school year. We don’t feel comfortable having everyone congregate together indoors yet without any precautions and would hate to limit the attendance of those that wish to celebrate with us. This includes any type of potluck/buffet. We will still have some special ways to celebrate our 160 years of faithful service to our Lord on the 13th!
One way we would like to safely celebrate is to do a slideshow of your pictures! Please get your pictures of you and your family to Scott Flynn or the church as soon as possible (scott.flynn@salemfontanelle.org or salemfontanelle@yahoo.com). 📸 We want to see how many ways everyone celebrated or praised the Lord here at Salem. It can be wedding pictures, confirmation, baptism, birthdays, vacation bible school, Sunday school, etc. We just need them soon.
On the happier side of this pandemic, we have decided to go full steam ahead and keep our plans going for the BIG celebration next summer! Our new date will be Sunday, June 13th, 2021 where we will celebrate 161 years! This coronavirus may be slowing down our celebration now but we’re going to do it bigger and better next year!
Look for more announcements about this in the coming months.
As always, please be safe and keep the church in your prayers. We all have so much to be thankful for and we look forward to seeing you all in person soon!!!
Prayerfully, Angie Moeller
